Homeschool agreement pt 2 revised Nov 2011

The School Standards and Framework Act 1998 requests that the governing bodies of all maintained schools and academies must publish a home-school agreement for signing by parents and where possible by the older child.  The governing body must take reasonable steps to ensure that all registered parents of pupils of compulsory school age sign the parental declaration to indicate that they understand and accept the contents of the agreement.

The Home-School Agreement statutory guidance suggested topics to cover in a home-school agreement are:

  • The ethos of the school
  • The importance of, and responsibility for, regular and punctual attendance
  • The importance of, and responsibility for, good discipline and behaviour
  • What is expected from schools, parents and pupils in relation to homework
  • The information schools and parents will give one another.

In addition St Andrew’s School has up-dated its ‘Home-School Agreement’ to include the all important reminder about Internet Safety and use of the Internet and its new Aims & Vision  Statements which staff and governors worked on at the beginning of the new academic year which were reported to parents and are on the school’s website.
