St Andrew’s has achieved the Silver Award

 for Eco-Schools

 

 

 

 

Eco-Schools is an international award programme that guides schools on their sustainable journey, providing a framework to help embed these principles into the heart of school life.

The Government in England wants every school to be a sustainable school by 2020.

Eco-Schools is administered in England by Keep Britain Tidy

 

 

 

 

 

 

 Eco-Schools allows schools to work towards three awards – Bronze, Silver and the prestigious Green Flag.  The programme is free to schools and once registered schools work through a seven step process which involves:-

• Eco-Committee
• Environmental Review
• Action Plan
• Eco-Code
• Involve Whole School and Wider Community
• Links to the Curriculum
• Monitor and Evaluate Progress

Children are the driving force behind Eco-Schools -   As part of the programme schools work on a variety of environmental topics including; water, biodiversity, energy, global perspective, healthy living, litter, schools grounds, transport and waste.
