Governors

Governors’ Welcome

 A Welcome from the Governors

The Governing Body of St Andrew’s is a voluntary group of people representing those who have an interest in the school be they parents, staff, the local community and church and Essex local authority. The Governors meet on a regular basis either as a full group or in committee, to support the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team run our highly successful school.

The Governor’s primary role is to ensure that all children receive the best possible education in a safe and happy environment. We do this by making certain that the school complies with all relevant legislation, manages its budget wisely and provides a rich, varied and challenging curriculum through high quality teaching and learning.

Governors are not involved in the day to day management of the school, and whilst we are happy to discuss any successes or problems your children may be facing, we would always suggest parents talk to the school in the first instance. St Andrews’ is proud of its “open door” policy and whilst staff may not be available during teaching hours an appointment to see them can always be made through the school office. The Headteacher runs a “drop-in surgery” for parents on Tuesday mornings and we have regular visits from both education and health-care professionals who can offer invaluable support to parents. If you feel you need to discuss an issue as a matter of urgency, Ms Trappitt will try to see parents as soon as possible or make phone contact at a mutually convenient time. Should any issues require Governor’s attention she will pass them on as appropriate.

Any vacancies that arise on the Governing Body are posted on this website and, should you be interested in joining us, please contact the Clerk to Governors for an application form. For further information about the role of School Governor and just what it entails, please don’t hesitate to ask either Ms Trappitt or a current member of the Governing Body. We are always happy to welcome enthusiastic and committed people to join the team.

As a Parent Governor with two children currently at St Andrew’s, I am proud to be associated with the high quality education, fully inclusive commitment and nurturing community that St Andrews provides.
