School Council

Here are the School Council elected members for 2009-2010

The School Council meets twice a half term. Each class has two representatives. These are selected by their respective class members at the start of a new school year. They remain in office for twelve months. At the first meeting members nominate and vote for a chairperson and secretary.

Each class holds regular class council meetings to raise and discuss issues. The representatives then bring the issues to the school council meetings. For example the idea of a friendship bench was raised. This was subsequently painted and decorated by the Art Club and installed on the playground.

Meetings have an agenda, minutes are taken by the secretary and a date for the next meeting decided. Also in attendance is a staff representative. The Minutes are displayed on the School Council notice board and circulated to staff.

The School Council may represent the school on special occasions such as decorating the Great Yeldham Police Station tree at Christmas time.

We look forward to developing the role of the School Council as ‘the children’s voice’ in our school. It also allows pupils to builds confidence, an awareness of responsibility and foster citizenship skills.

Please keep visiting this page as we update it with more details of what we have achieved and our future activities!

We also have a notice board in the entrance hall/library which gives more details of the things we do…
