WE WILL BE CELEBRATING WORLD BOOK DAY on Thursday 1st March
World Book Day is a celebration! It’s a celebration of authors, illustrators, books and (most importantly) it’s a celebration of reading. In fact, it’s the biggest celebration of its kind, designated by UNESCO as a worldwide celebration of books and reading, and marked in over 100 countries all over the world. Each Class will be celebrating reading and authors through a range of activities on the day. Additionally, we thought it would be fun to have a ‘book swap’ in class, so if your child would like to bring in a book that they like but no longer need they can be swapped on the day.
Everyone will be receiving a WORLD BOOK DAY – Book Token
Daffodils in aid of the Marie Curie Cancer Care ‘Great Daffodil Appeal’ are available from the school office. It is hoped that a donation of at least £1 will be made for each daffodil.
There will be NO clubs on Tuesday, 28th and Wednesday, 29th February due to Parents Evenings, except for Anxiety Club (run by Mrs. McPartland and Mrs. Fenner) on Tuesday. Clubs on other days will be operating as usual.

First Aid at St Andrew’s 2012
February 3rd, 2012 | Posted by in News | Pupil | Website - (0 Comments)|
First Aid in Courtauld Class On Friday mornings since September, Courtauld Class have been following the St. John Ambulance Young First Aider syllabus with Mrs. Buckland and have recently completed Parts 1 and 2, gaining information on how to treat a wide range of injuries and illnesses, including how to treat an unconscious breathing casualty and how to put them into the recovery position. Last Friday, we were lucky enough to have a St. John Ambulance Trainer from the Chelmsford Branch come to school and take the children through Part 3 which covered further topics such as heart attacks and CPR-resuscitation using rescue breaths and chest compressions. The children have shown great enthusiasm and commitment to this and have consequently gained a lot of knowledge and skills as well as had a lot of fun along the way – especially when honing their bandaging techniques! The children were presented with Certificates for Parts 1 and 2 today and will shortly gain Certificates for Part 3. We are intending to enter teams into the St. John Ambulance National Schools First Aid Competition in May again this year. We wish them the best of luck! |
